Meet the Creatures of the Night – In the Dark!
Did you know that nearly 80 percent of the world's animals are primarily active at night?
In the Night Zoo, you can get up close to some of the creatures that we humans rarely encounter. We have turned day and night upside down, allowing you to wander beneath a starry sky during the day and meet everything from rat-kangaroos and bushbabies to armadillos and echidnas. The journey through the calm surroundings of the night also leads you to a spot where you can peer into a cave filled with fascinating bats!
Walk among the leaping nocturnal creatures
As a very special feature, the experience doesn't just happen behind glass. In one of the areas, you share the path with the animals; here, the small rat-kangaroos hop freely around your feet. This offers a truly unique opportunity to observe their swift movements and curious nature at close range. Remember to walk quietly – in the silence of the night, the greatest experiences come to those who move calmly.

Did you know?
Bats are incredibly skilled at finding food and avoiding predators and obstacles in the dark of night – they use their sharp hearing and echolocation to do so. Meet them in the Nocturnal House.
