Come by Zoolab, where you can meet one of the world's coolest - and most hardy - animals. We're talking about the leopard gecko, of course.
The leopard gecko is a master at surviving in some of the world's harshest terrain: the desert. Here, it uses its tail, its body and some pretty clever tricks to stay cool, hide and find food.
Look forward to learning even more about how the leopard gecko has adapted to the desert over the years, and to experiencing a themed exhibition full of surprises about its quirks, talents and survival strategies.
Learn something right away
At the moment you can meet the reptile, which has a tail with more functions than a Swiss army knife. The leopard gecko's tail is both its lunch box and - in an emergency - its escape ticket. If it is attacked by a predator, the tail can fall off, and because it is often a different color than the rest of its body, it is often the tail that the predator goes after.
The leopard gecko also has small ear holes, which create drafts through its head and help it cool down when the desert sun is at its hottest. It feeds on insects and uses its spotted body to crawl around in search of anything that crawls, jumps or buzzes.
